Explaining immigrant threat perceptions and pro‐immigrant collective action intentions through issue‐specific moral conviction and general need for closure: The case of the US–Mexico border wall

This research aimed at explaining immigrant threat perceptions and pro-immigrant collective action intentions through moral conviction regarding the construction of US–Mexico border wall general need for closure (NFC). Among independent samples Democrats Republicans, we found that NFC (measured in Study 1, manipulated 2) was negatively related to enhanced when low. Instead, high, were more motivated act collectively support immigrants reduced perceptions, NFC, whereas Republicans less NFC. These results suggest offers a powerful issue-specific motivation can psychologically buffer against negative influences We discuss how these complement advance literature open up new avenues.
